Colourcoats enamel model paint
|1941-1945 B.5 / B15
|British Royal Navy
|First revised in 2017 and introduced as RN07, this shade is based upon extensive primary source research carried out directly by Sovereign Hobbies and collaborating researchers.
B5 was a colour with unclear origins, but may derive from WW1 dazzle scheme colours. It was used extensively on distruptive scheme camouflage of Royal Navy warships from 1941, and would be used with combinations of white, 507A Home Fleet Grey, 507C Mediterranean (Light) Grey, MS1, MS2, MS3, MS4, MS4A and B6. From 1943 onwards B5 was renotated as B15 and was used with the 1943 onwards standardised colour palette of G5, G10, G20, G30, G45, B20 and B30. It remained in use until 1945.
** Colour renders given above are for guidance only - differences in colour space models for physical paints versus illuminated pixels on screen and limitations of conversions between models means that what you see on your screen cannot be used for colour matching purposes. An accurate colour can be found sprayed on each tin lid and within the tin. **
Colourcoats are available in 14ml as standard. 125ml or larger quantities are available on request.

Solid pigments and flattening agent will tend to separate from the carrier solvent if sat still for long periods of time, so we strongly recommend thorough mixing before use.
Colourcoats can be sprayed with a suitable airbrush or brush painted. When brush painting multiple thinned coats are recommended with sable brushes.
The recommended thinner is Colourcoats Thinners specially formulated for superior drying times and reduced odour. If necessary Colourcoats can be thinned with standard quality solvent thinners or cellulose thinners for rapid drying.
