US Army Air Force and USAF colour schemes

The standard US Army Air Force land based fighter and bomber colour scheme for the first half of the war was common to both, thereafter the colours become less orderly. In addition, when they entered the war, the US forces equipped themselves with many aircraft originally ordered by the British and were delivered in US manufactured equivalents to British paints. 

The USAF has and continues to operate many combinations of FS595 colours from the Cold War onwards
